A very full weekend of events…..

A weekend packed with events at the Village Hall will commence  on Friday night 23rd June with a charity dance which is organised by local families who are regular supporters at our monthly Picnic supper dances. Denis Westmorland will be providing the live music for the event which commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper, tea and coffee will be provided. A Coffee morning will be held on Saturday and will be organised jointly between Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library . There will be bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and lots of homemade cakes. A book and bric a brac stall will aid Hall funds and a raffle will raise money for the Library. We look forward to seeing everyone for a 10.a.m start and a prompt Noon finish ( a private hire is booked in during the afternoon ).

The weekend concludes on Sunday when Broadway Fairs will be hosting a Flea Market and Craft Fair. There will be lots of stalls selling a great variety of items: Collectables, Bric a Brac, Vintage, Books, Jigsaws, Gifts, Jewellery and Crafts. Another busy weekend…..

The events over the weekend at the Village Hall kick off with a Picnic supper dance on Friday evening when Brian Griffin will be travelling from the borders to provide the live music for the dance. He is a very popular musician and he is only available to play this one date at the Hall. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided in the interval. Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee will be hosting the Collectable and Craft Fair on Sunday. This will be their last one until August Bank Holiday Monday ( Broadway Fairs will be hosting Fairs on the last Sunday of each month but please continue to check out this site as Sheila the organiser is currently under the weather ). The Management Fair on Sunday promises to be a bumper edition as there are a number of new stalls, some just one off, either due to downsizing or the unfortunate task of clearing parents homes. There will be a great selection of items, all at bargain prices and with unique items for sale on the craft stalls ( again some new faces ). The event opens at 9.30.a.m but please pop in earlier if it fits in better with your plans for the day, most stalls are set up by 9.a.m. Event closes 4.p.m. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. 50p admission. Hundreds of books!

Gargrave Village Hall will be a haven for book lovers on Saturday ( 3rd June ) when a Book Fair will be held from 10.a.m until 4.p.m. There will be hundreds and hundreds of books for sale covering every subject and they will range from general paperback titles through to specialist and antiquarian volumes. Break the visit with light refreshments which will be on sale from 10.a.m until 3.p.m. Admission is just 50p or by donation. Be assured of a warm welcome from everyone. Bank Holiday weekend events…

On Friday May 26th Gargrave Cinema Club will be showing their last film of the season with Woman at War. A well acted and thoughtful comedy drama from Iceland. Cafe style seating will be in place so please bring along your own refreshments. Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door with accompanied under sixteens free. The film shows will restart in September for the Autumn/Winter season.

A Quiet weekend……

The Management Committee at the Village Hall can take a well earned rest this weekend as they have no events taking place ( 20th and 21st May ).

The last film night of the season will be held next Friday ( 26th May ) at 7.30.p.m. The comedy drama `Woman at War` tells the story of Halla an environmental eco warrior , the film is set in the stunning Icelandic landscape. Please bring along your own refreshments. Tickets £5.00 on the door.

God save the King….

Thanks to all who came along to celebrate the Kings Coronation at the Village Hall on Sunday ( 7th May ). The popular local group Silhouette played live music throughout the afternoon and in the interval a homemade tea was served with endless cups of tea. Everyone had a good time and it was great to see some of the audience dancing especially the lovely lady from Neville House Care Home who even managed to find a younger dance partner! Special thanks to all those on Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and their friends who decorated the Hall ( inside and out ), prepared all the sandwiches, served the afternoon tea and tidied up at the end of a long day. Big thanks to our two wonderful ladies who baked all the scones and cupcakes. There were lucky winners too who went home with some Royal raffle prizes but most importantly everyone went home having shared some special memories in celebrating the Coronation.

Next weekend is a busy one too for the Management Committee with a Picnic supper dance on Friday evening ( 12th May ) and live music from Alan Cookson. A Vintage, Collectable and Craft Fair will be held on Sunday ( 13th May ) from 9.30.a.m until 4.p.m. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Lots of stalls selling Vintage, Collectables, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Books, Jigsaws and Crafts.
