A weekend of Private Hires….

A big thank you to everyone who visited last weeks Collectable and Craft Fair, the first of the year organised by Gargrave Village Hall Management team. The next will be on Sunday 14th April with another Fair before that on Easter Sunday 31st March and hosted by Sheila of Broadway Fairs.

The model railway club will be in the Annexe on Monday evening(18th March) for their meeting at 7.p.m until 10.p.m. Please come along and see about joining the like minded group of train and transport enthusiasts. The members plan to attend one of the future Collectable Fairs where they will set up one of their model sets so others can get pleasure from their hobby too. The Monday night meetings take place on the first and third Monday in the month.

Gargrave Village Hall Management Fair returns-bigger and better than ever!

The weekend commences with a Picnic supper dance on Friday evening. The local band Silhouette will be providing the live music for the event. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided in the interval. Admission is £6.00 ( cash only ) per person on the door. The music commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. A raffle will aid Village Hall funds.

The Village Hall Management Committee return with their first Collectable and Craft Fair of the year on Sunday. They have enjoyed a couple of months rest since December and the break also allowed the Pantomime group some more flexible rehearsal times for their annual performances which took place last month. The market will be bigger and better than ever with quite a few new stallholders in attendance and only a couple of tables spare at the time of writing this piece. There will be a fantastic choice of items for sale at affordable prices, Vintage, Collectables, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Gifts, Books, Jigsaws, Preserves and Crafts. The Village Hall committee will also have items for sale on their own stall. Stalls will also be raising funds for Manorlands and the Cats Protection League. The event opens at 9.30.a.m but if it fits in better with your days plans please call sooner as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m. Don`t forget to bring Mum as its Mothers day ,there will be lots of gift ideas for her and also a cafe serving light refreshments and light lunches until 3.p.m. We are also delighted that local girl, Bethany will have her flower and spring plant stall – Mums will be spoilt for choice. Admission to the Fair is just 50p. Come and enjoy a day out in Gargrave. Pocket booklets will be available on the day advertising all the Fairs for the rest of the year. Just a reminder please that only a couple of stalls have card readers, the majority of sales are cash only. There is a cash machine in the Village but please come prepared !

Book Fair…..

Gargrave Show committee will be holding their annual Supper dance on Friday evening in the Hall. Further details and ticket sales please contact Lisa on 01756 749320.

The first Book Fair of the New Year will be held on Saturday. The main Hall and side rooms will be bursting at the rafters with books of all descriptions, ranging from general hardbacks and paperbacks through to rare and antiquarian volumes. The event opens at 10.a.m and closes at 4.p.m. Light refreshments are available until 3.p.m. A very small number of stallholders accept card payments but most sales are cash only. There is a cash machine in the Village at the Co-op store but please bring plenty with you! Admission is just 50p or by donation.

The next Book Fair will be on Saturday 3rd June.

There will as always be a great variety of books for sale on railways and transport, with this in mind it is a relevant time to let you know about meetings which are held in the Annexe at the Village Hall on the first and third Monday of each month. A group of like minded and enthusiastic people meet and enjoy the camaraderie of their shared love of transport, primarily trains, both model or full sized. Train layouts are set up and occasionally slides and films are shown or a club member may give a talk. Membership is on a twice yearly payment basis and everyone is made most welcome at this very friendly group. The meeting begins at 7.p.m until 10.p.m. Further details please call Alec on 07341345312. Alec one of the lead members hopes to attend one of the Collectable Fairs in the Spring when he will have a working train layout set up in one of the side rooms at the Hall so visitors can share the enjoyment of his hobby and learn a bit more about the group meetings.

A hectic weekend….

The weekend kicks off with a film show on Friday evening ( 23rd February ) hosted by Gargrave Cinema club. They will be showing ” Fisherman`s friends one and all”.

The customary Cafe style seating will be in place, so please bring along your own refreshments. The Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door with accompanied under sixteens free. Sorry but only guide dogs are allowed into the hall at this particular event.

A Coffee morning organised jointly between Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave library committee will be held on Saturday. Tasty bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade cakes will be on the menu. Cakes may be purchased to take out. A bric a brac and book stall will aid Village Hall funds whilst a raffle will raise funds for the Library.

Sheila of Broadway Fairs will be hosting the Flea Market and Craft Fair on Sunday commencing at 9.30.a.m until 3.30.p.m. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Lots of stalls selling both affordable and unique items. Its Pantomime time…..

Gargrave Pantomime group will be performing Jack and the Beanstalk on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening with a matinee performance too on Saturday afternoon. Tickets have and are selling very quickly, please contact Gargrave Pantomime Facebook page to check ticket availablity if you intend to purchase tickets on the door. The matinee performance in particular has proved very popular with ticket sales. Saturday afternoon performance is at 1.p.m and the evening performance commences at 5.p.m.

The annual general meeting of Gargrave Village Hall Management committee will be taking place on Wednesday 21st February at 7.30.p.m. in the Village Hall annexe. Nomination forms for committee members are provided in the main foyer. The monthly Management meeting will be held directly after the AGM.

A quiet weekend with no public events taking place, during the months of January and February the Management committee keep events on a weekend to a minimum so that the cast of the annual Pantomime have the opportunity to rehearse through the day for their up and coming production. Please see the gallery to the left of this post for ticket details.

Film show & Flea Market…..

On Friday 26th January Gargrave Cinema club will be showing the film A man called Otto. The film tells the story of a grumpy widower ( Tom Hanks ) who is very set in his ways. When a lively young family moves in over the road, he meets his match in the quick witted and very pregnant Marisol and finds an unexpected friend ship that will turn his world upside down. The other stars in the production are Mariana Trevino, Rachel Keller and Manuel Garcia Rulfo.

All proceeds from the film nights go towards the running costs for the Library so please bring along a little extra change to purchase raffle tickets.

Sunday will see the return of the Flea Market and Craft Fairs. Sheila from Broadway Fairs will be hosting the event. A quiet weekend ahead….

There are no public events taking place at the Village Hall this weekend ( January 19th – 21st ), just private hires.

There is still time to purchase a 2024 calendar to help raise funds for the Village Hall, they are priced at £10.00 each. The calendar features photographic views of in and around Gargrave. They are currently available from the Village Library which is situated at the front of the Hall, entrance via main front door. Opening hours are Monday 3-5.p.m, Tuesday and Saturday 10.a.m – Noon and Wednesday and Friday 2-4.p.m.

If you are new to the Village its quick and simple to join this great facility, just pop in and a friendly volunteer will help you join. There is a great selection of books and you may also like to join the 100 club draw which raises funds for the community library which is run by volunteers.
