Happy New Year to everyone….

We do hope everyone had a Happy Christmas and enjoyed good health.

We are pleased to welcome back both our Hirers and Patrons and hopefully we can look forward to 2022 with some optimism.

We do have events planned for January and we hope that Covid regulations will allow us to continue with our plans.

The first event is a Picnic Supper dance on the 14th January, a Coffee morning on the 22nd, the Library Film show on the 28th and the first Flea Market of the year on the 30th January.

Plans later in the year include a Royal celebration in June when we intend to celebrate the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee with a Coffee morning on Friday 3rd June, we may well include a display of Royal and Village memorabilia  during the morning too. We shall be holding a Book Fair on Saturday 4th June and on Sunday the 5th June we shall be holding an afternoon tea with live music, celebrating the music of the Platinum era. This will be a ticket event only so more details will be supplied nearer the time, but please if you would like to reserve a place you can do so at any time.

Happy Christmas

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Hirers, Patrons and friends a very Happy and Healthy Christmas.

A double bill of Flea Markets took place on Sunday and Monday. Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was great to catch up with stallholders and visitors both old and new. The next Flea Market will be held on Sunday 12th September.

Please come along on either of the above dates.

The next date for a Coffee morning is scheduled for the 11th September.

Coffee morning news….

The sun is shining which means that following on from last weeks enjoyable event we shall be holding another outdoor Coffee morning this week, Saturday 12th June. Quite a brave decision with our great British weather but the report seems to be pretty good for the weekend . The current restrictions do not allow us to host an indoor Coffee morning so we shall be al fresco!

There will be a selection of homemade cakes and toasted teacakes to enjoy ( sorry no bacon butties at the moment ). Tables will be well spaced and there will be table service.

Hopefully if the weather is reasonable there will also be a book stall ( in aid of Hall funds ) and a bric a brac stall ( in aid of Manorlands ). These will be outdoors too. If you have a wedding coming up there may be a selection of wedding hats for sale in aid of Manorlands too.

In the event of  inclement weather we shall not be cancelling the event totally we shall instead be selling slices of homemade cake to takeaway and these can be purchased from a stall just inside the back door .

Fingers crossed , sun hats ( and wedding hats )at the ready!!

Latest News – May 2021

We are pleased to say that some activities will slowly be making a return to the Village Hall.

The Childrens Gym class was able to resume last month after the first stage of lockdown was lifted. This activity was allowed under government rules as it is an educational, supervised activity for children.

The Community Library was also allowed to re-open albeit it with one borrower or hub allowed in at any one time. The flow of borrowers is controlled by a volunteer who will be in the Hall foyer, whilst a second Volunteer is help on hand within the Library. Opening hours are Mondays 3-4.p.m, Fridays 2 – 4.p.m and Saturdays 10.a.m – Noon. Any further information on the facility please contact 01609 536547 or admin@gargravelibrary.co.uk

Other small classes and exercise classes are able to return from the 17th May though have to adhere to the conditions of their relevant risk assessments. We look forward to the return of Yoga and Pilates and so too the Art class and the Art group. The Snooker club members will also be able to resume their sport from this date.

The final stage of the end of lockdown will hopefully arrive as scheduled in June. It may then take time to assess any new rules and arrange adaptions to events ensuring compliance is in place for all activities. Therefore we please ask everyone to remain patient. We have a duty of care to the public who use our fantastic facilities and it is our responsibility to ensure that safety is paramount. Therefore we have taken the decision that we cannot take any new bookings which include social mixing of larger groups from August at the earliest.  Any events which are possible will be posted on this website as soon as it is practical to do so. We do hope to arrange an outdoor Coffee morning as soon as we can but this is dependant on the weather conditions.
