News from the Village Hall ( 19.12.2020 )

The Village Hall will be closing over the Christmas period from Tuesday 22nd December until Monday 4th January.

The Community Library closes at Noon on the 19th December until Monday 4th January ( open 3-4.p.m )

Despite not being able to hold our Annual General Meeting in December it would still seem an appropriate time to thank Gargrave Village Hall committee members for all their work behind the scenes in this very difficult year. Special thanks to Robert, Simon and Lynn who have done sterling work over the year. Thanks too must be extended to our small group of Hirers who have been able to return with their classes. The risk assessments they have been duty bound to create have been comprehensive and compliant. They have acted in a very responsible manner and have ensured that safety has been paramount. Unfortunately the Tier restrictions introduced recently have had a knock on effect on pupil attendance so some teachers have found it financially difficult to continue. The loss of Tier 3 pupils has also altered the dynamics in some groups. Hopefully at some point in the New Year if nearby areas can get the Tier 3 dropped to a 2 Tier then pupils can return once more.

We still have hundreds of books in stock at the Village Hall, very reasonable prices, 50p per paperback, £1 hardbacks. If you have a particular author or title you would like please don`t hesitate to contact info@gargravevillagehall.org.uk  07989585564 or drop a note through the front door of the Hall. Any sales can be made at a social distance, cash only please. Proceeds for Village Hall funds.

We are also happy to support fund raising for Manorlands, again lots of household, general items available, please contact the above with any requests.

Please note on the gallery image on the front page, the tealights are now sold.

We wish all our patrons, friends and the wider community a very Happy and above all a Healthy Christmas.

Thanks..

A big thank you to everyone who came along to the Open day Coffee morning on the 25th January and for the positive comments received about the recent improvements to the Snooker Room. They were much appreciated.

A quiet weekend at the Hall this week but a reminder that on Saturday 8th February the Pantomime section will be selling tickets again at the Coffee morning  for their productions later on in the month, February 20th  – 22nd.

Almost 2020.

We all hope that everyone had a good Christmas and would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.

It is a fairly quiet period at the Village Hall, which comes as some what of a relief. We have recently undertaken quite a major refurbishment of the Snooker rooms, creating a self contained club and an additional meeting room. The work has not been without its hiccups but I think we are on the home straight.

We shall be celebrating the new look club with an Open day Coffee morning on Saturday 25th January. The whole premises will be available to look around and representatives of various user groups, clubs and class leaders will be in attendance to give more information on their respective group. Tickets will also be available for the 2020 Pantomime, Dick Whittington and his cat.

Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered  teacakes and lots of homemade cakes available from 9.30.a.m. until Noon.

Almost Christmas!

Gargrave and Malhamdale Community Library will be showing the feel good film Fishermans Friends on Friday evening.  The comedy drama tells the unlikely but true story of a group of Cornish Fishermen who were signed by Universal Records and achieve a top ten hit with their debut album. The cast is headed by Daniel May, James Purefoy, Tuppence Middleton and David Hayman.

The customary Café style seating will be in place so please bring your own refreshments. The Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door, with accompanied under sixteens free. Sorry only guide dogs allowed.

The busy Library Volunteers and their friends will be back in action on Saturday morning when they will be hosts for the Coffee morning. Bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and lots of homemade cakes will be available from 10.a.m until Noon.

Members of Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee would like to take this opportunity to wish all Hirers and Patrons a very Happy Christmas.

A weekend of Allsorts……

The weekend kicks off with a Picnic Supper Dance on Friday evening from 7.30.p.m with live music for ballroom and sequence dance from Lancashire Musician Alan Cookson. Admission is five pounds on the door. Please bring along your own Picnic Supper.

Members of Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee will be holding a Coffee morning on Saturday. Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes and a great variety of homemade cakes will be on the menu. Doors open at 10.a.m until Noon ( why not catch the Library at the same time, their opening hours on a Saturday are 10.a.m until 1.p.m, if you aren`t already a member its simple to become one just call in and a member of staff will help you with the process ).

A fun raffle and book stall will also aid funds and there will be a stall with proceeds for Manorlands.

Some members of the Committee are back at the Hall on Sunday when they will be hosting their last Flea Market, Vintage, Collectable and Craft Fair of 2019. A capacity amount of stalls are booked in with a great selection of items providing last minute solutions for those hard to buy for family and friends. The garden stall will also have a good choice of Christmas plants. Light refreshments will be available until 3.p.m. Come along and enjoy a warm welcome in the Festive atmosphere. Leaflets will also be available for next years Flea Markets and Book Fairs. Open 10.a.m until 3.30.p.m but please call earlier if it fits in better with your days plans, most stalls are up and running by 9.a.m.
