A quiet weekend…

After the buzz of the annual Art show last weekend we now have a quiet weekend with no open events taking place. The Hall will be in use by private Hirers but next weekend on the Saturday ( 30th July ) the Village Hall Committee jointly with the Library committee will be holding a Coffee morning with bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and of course the delicious array of homemade cakes.

Sheila from Broadway Fairs will be holding a Flea Market and Craft Fair on the Sunday ( 31st July ) from 10.a.m until 3.p.m.

Gargrave Art Exhibition – Golden Anniversary celebrations…

In this Platinum Jubilee year, Gargrave Art Exhibition is celebrating all things Golden. After a two year delay due to Covid the doors will be open for the fiftieth show. There will be contributions from Gargrave Art Group, including works on their theme for this year `Gold`. The children and staff of Gargrave Primary school are also very excited to be involved. There will be many other Artists showing and selling their works, so come along and enjoy the fantastic selection of Artworks. Gargrave 2022 group will be selling light refreshments.

Opening hours are: Thursday and Friday, 14th and 15th July  11.a.m – 7.p.m.

Saturday 16th July 10.a.m – 7.p.m.

Sunday 17th July 10.a.m -4.30.p.m

Jubilee Celebrations…..

The Jubilee celebrations begin at the Village Hall on Friday 3rd June with a right Royal Coffee morning. There will be lots of homemade cakes on the menu and prizes to be won in the raffle, all related to something royal. There will be a stall selling royal memorabilia and books from the past seventy years, plus a sale of new wedding hats, perfect for any royal occasion and all proceeds from these two stalls will go to Manorlands. There will be some favourite tunes playing in the background, which could involve a special surprise. Indeed we can announce what that is now – Tim the Sax player will be playing so please come along and enjoy the music.

A Book Fair will be held on Saturday 4th June. There will be thousands of books for sale, ranging from general paperbacks to rare and antiquarian editions. Admission is 50p or by donation. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m.

The tickets for the Afternoon tea with live music on Sunday 5th June are now all sold out. The event features popular local vocalist Andy Wiseman who will be singing a range of songs from the past seventy years. We are sorry but there cannot be any admission without first reserving a ticket.

Broadway Fairs….

There will be a Flea Market and Craft Fair at the Village Hall on Sunday commencing at 10.a.m. The Hall will be full of stalls selling a great variety of items from Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac, Jigsaws, Books and Crafts. There will also be stalls raising proceeds for both Manorlands and the Cats Protection League. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. 50p admission on the door. Sell out Performances…..

Tickets for the annual Pantomime have been selling at a fast rate. Saturday matinee tickets are all sold and only a few are available for the Friday night and Saturday night performances. Please do call 01756 749443 if you would like to know if any tickets are left just in case there are none available on the door.

Come along and grab a bargain on Sunday 27th February when Sheila Palmer will be hosting one of her Flea Market and Craft Fairs. The event opens at 10.a.m ( please pop in earlier if it is more convenient as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m ) and closes around 3.30.p.m. There will be lots of stalls selling collectables, crafts, jewellery, books, bric a brac, jigsaws and more. Craven Cats Protection league and Manorlands will also have stalls raising funds for their respective charities. Refreshments available until 3.p.m.

Once we get into next month there will be two Flea Markets per month, one organised by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee ( 13th March )  and one by Sheila. ( 27th March ).

Picnic Supper Dance

The accomplished Organist Elizabeth Harrison will be providing the live music for the Picnic supper dance on Friday evening  ( 11th February ). Elizabeth plays for many of the large dance competitions all over the country including those held at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The dancing commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided. A raffle will be held in the interval to aid Hall funds. £5.00 admission on the door.

Tickets for the Pantomime ( Thursday 24th February 7.15.p.m, Friday 25th February 7.15.p.m and Saturday 26th February 1.p.m and 5.p.m ) are now on sale from Gargrave Library or the Dalesman Cafe. £8 and £5 concessions in advance or £9/£6 on the door subject to availability.

 

 

 

Village Halls week Coffee morning….

Gargrave Village Hall will be kicking off the National Village Halls week a little early when it holds a joint Coffee morning with Gargrave Library volunteers on Saturday. The national campaign instigated by Action with Communities in rural England officially begins a couple of days later. The campaign intends to shine a spotlight on the contribution England`s 10,000 plus village halls make to rural communities and it gives the hall management committees an opportunity to celebrate their work and showcase their venues. Gargrave Village Hall like so many others has improved life for local residents, providing a safe place where people can gather to combat loneliness whilst delivering a wide range of activities and services.

The organisers of the Coffee morning would be delighted to welcome everyone on Saturday morning from 10.a.m onwards. Table service will be provided and there will be bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade cakes on the menu. Slices of cake may also be purchased to take out.

A book, CD and DVD stall will aid Hall funds whilst proceeds from the raffle will go towards Library funds.

The Management committee at the Hall are pleased to also support fundraising for Manorlands Hospice and there will be a stall selling brand new Gents clothing together with a small selection of bric a brac. There is a lot of clothing!

If you are new to the Village please do ask one of the volunteers for a tour of the premises. They will be happy to show you around. Pocket booklets will also be available which list the 2022 dates for Vintage Fairs, Craft Fairs, Book Fairs, Jubilee Celebrations and monthly dances.

Next weekend there will be a film show on Friday evening . Blinded by the Light will commence at 7.30.p.m. Tickets £5.00 on the door and on Sunday the first Flea Market and Craft Fair of the year which commences at 10.a.m. Refreshments available. 50p admission.

Looking ahead to our Platinum Jubilee celebrations: We shall be holding a right Royal Coffee morning on Friday 3rd June, incorporating a display of Village and Royal memorabilia. A Book Fair will be held on the Saturday. The regal weekend will end on Sunday afternoon the 5th June when we shall be holding an afternoon tea with live music. We are delighted to announce that Andy Wiseman will be providing the vocals for the event, singing iconic and popular songs from the fifties to the present day. Happy New Year to everyone….

We do hope everyone had a Happy Christmas and enjoyed good health.

We are pleased to welcome back both our Hirers and Patrons and hopefully we can look forward to 2022 with some optimism.

We do have events planned for January and we hope that Covid regulations will allow us to continue with our plans.

The first event is a Picnic Supper dance on the 14th January, a Coffee morning on the 22nd, the Library Film show on the 28th and the first Flea Market of the year on the 30th January.

Plans later in the year include a Royal celebration in June when we intend to celebrate the Queen`s Platinum Jubilee with a Coffee morning on Friday 3rd June, we may well include a display of Royal and Village memorabilia  during the morning too. We shall be holding a Book Fair on Saturday 4th June and on Sunday the 5th June we shall be holding an afternoon tea with live music, celebrating the music of the Platinum era. This will be a ticket event only so more details will be supplied nearer the time, but please if you would like to reserve a place you can do so at any time.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our Hirers, Patrons and friends a very Happy and Healthy Christmas.

We shall be keeping up to date with any new Covid related rules but hopefully we shall look forward to welcoming everyone back in the New Year.

January events include a Picnic Supper dance with live music from Alan Cookson on the 14th January, a Coffee morning held jointly by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library on Saturday 22nd January and a Broadway Fairs Flea Market and Craft Fair on Sunday 30th January.

Busy weekend..

A Picnic supper dance will be held on Friday evening the 12th November with live music provided by Alan Cookson. Admission is £5.00 on the door. Please bring along your own picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided and a raffle will aid Village Hall funds. The music and dancing commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m.

The largest Vintage, Collectables and Crafts Fair of the year will be held in the Hall on Sunday. The venue will be full to capacity with lots of stallholders selling a great variety of stock. Plenty of Christmas gift ideas with the benefit of no queues, no out of stock and no delayed deliveries! Admission is just 50p, the event opens at 10.a.m but please come along earlier if it is more convenient as most stallholders are ready to sell by 9.a.m.. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m in a spacious Cafe area. A two minute silence will be observed at 11.a.m to acknowledge Remembrance Sunday.

 

North Craven Flower Club will be holding their annual open evening at the Hall on the 11th November. The guest demonstrator will be John Dalton , the talk and demo is entitled `Christmas Greetings` Doors open at 6.30.p.m. Admission is by ticket only, numbers are restricted so please purchase your £10.00 ticket as early as you can by calling Jean Kayley 01729 840303.
