A busy weekend and updated Covid Guidance!

Please,  as from Friday the 10th December we would request that everyone wears a mask when attending events at the Hall. New guidance rules include the wearing of masks in indoor settings.

Firstly a quick recap on last weekend. There was a great turnout of stallholders for the Book Fair last Saturday. The majority of sellers were regulars on the North West Book circuit and they had some fantastic books. They stock general paperbacks and rare and collectable books too. I found a rare one I had been looking out for and at a really reasonable price, much cheaper than any online prices We were pleased to be able to help out both the Cats Protection League and the North West Air Ambulance charities as they both had book stalls at the Fair.

Local artist, author and book illustrator, Hilary Roper was also in attendance and signed copies of her children`s books. Hilary also paints oil on canvas and as well as selling her work at a gallery in Birmingham, she will also be exhibiting at the Great Yorkshire show in 2022.

Please do continue to support the Book Fairs which are held quarterly at the Hall on Saturdays with an additional mid week date in August added.  If you would like a pocket booklet posting with all Book Fair, Flea Market and Craft Fair dates in 2022 please contact 01756 749235 or 07989 585564 info@gargravevillagehall.org.uk

Please bring along your own Picnic supper, tea and coffee will be provided. A raffle will aid funds. Booklets will be available listing all next years monthly Picnic supper dances. Bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade cakes will be on the menu. There will be a Book and CD stall aiding Hall funds and a Bric a Brac stall in aid of Manorlands. The raffle will raise funds for the Library. Please come along and enjoy a catch up before Christmas.

Sunday will be the last opportunity to grab a bargain before Christmas when the last Vintage, Collectables and Crafts Fair of the year will be held. The event opens around 9.30.a.m, but please pop in sooner if it is more convenient with your other plans for the day. Stalls will close for business around 3.30.p.m. There are lots of stalls booked in, selling a huge variety of items. Great ideas for Christmas gifts, lots of books and jigsaws to keep everyone occupied over Winter. Beautifully knitted baby and childrens items. Plus lots of unique Vintage and Collectable items. A tombola supporting the Cats protection league and a stall supporting Manorlands. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m.

Please do give these local events your support.

Hoping for better weather..

The weather did and didn`t hamper events last weekend. The film show was interrupted on the Friday for a short spell when the electric went off very briefly and typically just when the film reached that crucial stage. However power was restored and the audience went off happily knowing they knew the outcome of the story.

There was great support for the Coffee morning on Saturday which was organised jointly by the Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and the Library group. A further event is planned for the 11th December.

The Flea Market began in reasonable weather and then the snow just kept falling. The electric went off for a good half hour or more and customers had stopped arriving due to the road conditions so stallholders packed up and made their slow journeys home. A great shame for Sheila who organises the end of the month Flea Markets, please come along and support her next one on Sunday January 30th. Gargrave Village Hall Management team have a Vintage, Collectables and Craft fair on the 12th December so they look forward to seeing customers old and new then.

This weekend we shall be hosting the North West Book Fair on Saturday. This is a fantastic opportunity to stock up on Winter reading ( next Book Fair at the Hall is not until March ) and Christmas book gifts. There will be thousands of books for sale on every subject, both general, speciality and antiquarian. It is hoped that a local author and illustrator of childrens books will be in attendance and she will be signing copies of her book. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Event open 10.a.m, closure 3.30.p.m. PLEASE NOTE THE CLOSURE TIME OF 3.30.P.M. THE GALLERY IMAGE TIME OF 4.P.M  IS INCORRECT.

Weekend of the 26th, 27th and 28th November

A raffle will aid Library funds and the Library 100 club draw will take place during the morning.

Open 10.a.m ( but please come along earlier if it fits in better with other plans ) closure approximately 3.30.p.m. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Only 50p admission.

Remember to change the clocks!

We are back round to that time of the year again when we need to put the clocks back one hour, apparently the correct time to do this is at 2.a.m on the 31st October!

Lets hope all our Flea Market stallholder`s remember the change before they arrive to sell at Broadway Fairs on Sunday. There will be a good variety of goods for sale ranging from Collectables, Jewellery, Books, Bric a Brac and Crafts. All at very affordable prices, no crowds, no queues, no out of stock or delivery delays at Gargrave Village Hall! There will also be a rummage box sale in aid of Hall funds and charity stalls raising money for Manorland`ss protection league. Light refreshments will be served from 10.a.m until 3.p.m , with spacious seating to enjoy your snack in the match room.

Don`t forget we only have three more Flea Markets before Christmas: Sunday 14th November ( all stalls booked so full to capacity ), Sunday 28th November and Sunday 12th December.
