Gargrave and Malhamdale community Library will be holding a film show on Friday evening. ( 18th January ). The featured film is the Oscar nominated animated ” The Bread Winner “. Set in 2001 Afghanistan it tells the inspiring story of a determined young girl, who following the capture of her Father, disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for and reunite her family.

The customary Café style seating will be in place so please bring along your own refreshments. Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m for a 7.30.p.m start. 5.00 admission on the door.

As part of the celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Village Hall the next film show on Friday 15th February will feature a 1959 comedy film with Terry Thomas in the lead role. A Pathe News reel from the same year will also be shown. Enjoy an evening of nostalgia, 1950`s dress is optional and there will be a prize for the best dressed couple or individual.

Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes and homemade cakes will be on the menu at the Coffee morning on Saturday commencing at 9.30.a.m. A fun raffle and book stall will also aid Village Hall funds.

Tickets are now available for the Saturday night celebration to mark the opening of the Village Hall back in 1959. The seventeen piece Swing City Big Band will be performing live at the Hall on the 16th February. The band together with their female vocalist will be re-living the golden days of big band music. There will be a raffle and licensed bar. Also available to reserve are tickets for the afternoon tea on Sunday 17th February when Vintage singer Hattie Bee will be performing her fantastic range of songs. Admission is 7.50 to include homemade afternoon tea.
