The fortnightly meet up for the menfolk seem to come around so quickly, we are back to a man Friday morning ( 24th April ) this week. A chance to meet up for a social chat, peruse the old books and memorabilia on Gargrave and have unlimited hot drinks, biscuits and homemade cake for just £3.00. Open 10.a.m to Noon in the match room, access via the back door, turn immediate right on entry. Cards, dominoes, chess and scrabble available if wished.

Gargrave Cinema club will be showing Local Hero on Friday evening in the Village Hall. This film is a gentle 1983 British Comedy drama which follows an American Oil Company executive sent by his eccentric billionaire boss to a small Scottish coastal village to buy the village and surrounding area for a new refinery. As he negotiates with the quirky locals and spends time in the beautiful surroundings he becomes increasingly charmed by the community and their way of life. Starring Peter Riegert, Burt Lancaster, Denis Lawson, Peter Capaldi and Fulton Mackay.

The cafe style seating will be in place so please bring your own refreshments. Doors open at 7.p.m and the film commences at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door, cash only please. Accompanied under sixteens are free. Sorry but only guide dogs are allowed to this event.

Proceeds from the film nights go towards the running costs of the community Library.
