No events 4-6th November due to a private booking.

There will be no public events taking place at the Hall this weekend due to a private booking hiring the Hall from the 4th of November through to the 6th of November.

Next weekend there will be a Picnic supper dance on the Friday with live organ music from the talented musician Elizabeth Harrison.

The Management Committee will be hosting their last but one Collectable and Craft Fair before Christmas on the Sunday. There will be a great variety of stalls with some new faces, look out for the remote-controlled boats! The popular 50p rummage boxes are back too. Light refreshments available. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11.a.m.

A social weekend ahead…..

Local band Silhouette will be providing the live music at the re-scheduled ( this dance should have been held on the weekend of the Queens death ) picnic supper dance on Friday evening. The music commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper, tea and coffee will be provided in the interval. A raffle will aid Hall funds. Admission is £6.00 on the door.

Come along to the Coffee morning on Saturday when bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and lots of homemade cakes will be on the menu. The event will be hosted jointly between Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library. A raffle will aid Library funds and proceeds from a book stall will go towards Hall funds. If you are curious about how the changes to local government may affect the area or you personally then representatives from Craven District Council will be in attendance to discuss any concerns or issues, this will be on an informal basis where you can have a personal chat whilst enjoying a cuppa!

Sad News….

We at Gargrave Village Hall are so sad to hear of the death of our Queen. We have lowered the flag at the Hall to half mast and as a mark of respect we have cancelled the Picnic Supper dance which was due to have been held on Friday evening. This event will be re-scheduled for Friday 7th October and The Silhouette band will be providing the live music.

We held a Collectable and Craft Fair in the Hall on Sunday and had a Condolence book which was provided by Gargrave Parish Council. There were many tributes and messages left, many from visitors who were so grateful that they could leave messages of sympathy whilst they were away from home. The Condolence book is now back in the library where messages may be left during their opening hours on Tuesday and Saturday mornings and Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons.

The first film of the Autumn season will be shown by Gargrave Cinema club on Friday evening the 16th September. 7.p.m for 7.30.p.m. The Duke is a 2020 British comedy drama dealing with the true story of the 1961 theft of the Portrait of the Duke of Wellington from a London Gallery. It features Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren in the title roles. The customary Cafe style seating will be in place so please bring your own refreshments. Tickets are £5.00 on the door.

The Hall will be completely closed on Monday 19th September.

Dancing next weekend ( 12th August )

A Picnic Supper dance will be held on Friday evening the 12th August with live music from the popular Cumbrian musician Denis Westmorland. The event commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper, tea and coffee will be provided in the interval. A raffle will aid funds. Admission is £6.00 per person on the door.

Don`t forget the mid week Book Fair on Tuesday 16th August. This will open at 10.a.m until 4.p.m. It is a great opportunity to stock up on Summer reading. There will be hundreds of general titles in both paperback and hardback, all at bargain prices, rare and antiquarian publications will also be available to purchase. This mid week event was held for the first time last year and proved to be very popular, please come along and see what is on offer. Meet the friendly stallholders from all over the North West . A quiet weekend…

After the buzz of the annual Art show last weekend we now have a quiet weekend with no open events taking place. The Hall will be in use by private Hirers but next weekend on the Saturday ( 30th July ) the Village Hall Committee jointly with the Library committee will be holding a Coffee morning with bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and of course the delicious array of homemade cakes.

Sheila from Broadway Fairs will be holding a Flea Market and Craft Fair on the Sunday ( 31st July ) from 10.a.m until 3.p.m.

Gargrave Art Exhibition – Golden Anniversary celebrations…

In this Platinum Jubilee year, Gargrave Art Exhibition is celebrating all things Golden. After a two year delay due to Covid the doors will be open for the fiftieth show. There will be contributions from Gargrave Art Group, including works on their theme for this year `Gold`. The children and staff of Gargrave Primary school are also very excited to be involved. There will be many other Artists showing and selling their works, so come along and enjoy the fantastic selection of Artworks. Gargrave 2022 group will be selling light refreshments.

Jubilee Celebrations…..

The Jubilee celebrations begin at the Village Hall on Friday 3rd June with a right Royal Coffee morning. There will be lots of homemade cakes on the menu and prizes to be won in the raffle, all related to something royal. There will be a stall selling royal memorabilia and books from the past seventy years, plus a sale of new wedding hats, perfect for any royal occasion and all proceeds from these two stalls will go to Manorlands. There will be some favourite tunes playing in the background, which could involve a special surprise. Indeed we can announce what that is now – Tim the Sax player will be playing so please come along and enjoy the music.

A Book Fair will be held on Saturday 4th June. There will be thousands of books for sale, ranging from general paperbacks to rare and antiquarian editions. Admission is 50p or by donation. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m.

The tickets for the Afternoon tea with live music on Sunday 5th June are now all sold out. The event features popular local vocalist Andy Wiseman who will be singing a range of songs from the past seventy years. We are sorry but there cannot be any admission without first reserving a ticket.

Broadway Fairs….

There will be a Flea Market and Craft Fair at the Village Hall on Sunday commencing at 10.a.m. The Hall will be full of stalls selling a great variety of items from Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac, Jigsaws, Books and Crafts. There will also be stalls raising proceeds for both Manorlands and the Cats Protection League. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. 50p admission on the door. Sell out Performances…..

Tickets for the annual Pantomime have been selling at a fast rate. Saturday matinee tickets are all sold and only a few are available for the Friday night and Saturday night performances. Please do call 01756 749443 if you would like to know if any tickets are left just in case there are none available on the door.

Come along and grab a bargain on Sunday 27th February when Sheila Palmer will be hosting one of her Flea Market and Craft Fairs. The event opens at 10.a.m ( please pop in earlier if it is more convenient as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m ) and closes around 3.30.p.m. There will be lots of stalls selling collectables, crafts, jewellery, books, bric a brac, jigsaws and more. Craven Cats Protection league and Manorlands will also have stalls raising funds for their respective charities. Refreshments available until 3.p.m.

Once we get into next month there will be two Flea Markets per month, one organised by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee ( 13th March )  and one by Sheila. ( 27th March ).

Picnic Supper Dance

The accomplished Organist Elizabeth Harrison will be providing the live music for the Picnic supper dance on Friday evening  ( 11th February ). Elizabeth plays for many of the large dance competitions all over the country including those held at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. The dancing commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided. A raffle will be held in the interval to aid Hall funds. £5.00 admission on the door.
