A Picnic supper dance will be held on Friday evening from 7.30.p.m. Cumbrian musician Denis Westmorland will be providing the live music for ballroom and sequence dance. Admission is 5.00 on the door. Please bring along your own Picnic supper.

Sorry No Coffee morning on Saturday but there will be one the following week on the 16th November.

A Flea Market, Vintage, Collectable and Craft Fair will be held on Sunday, organised by the Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee. There are over twenty stalls booked in with a great  selection of items from Antiques, Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac , Crafts ( Fabrics, knitted items and hand made silver jewellery ) , Books and Plants. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Ample free parking and all stalls ( including a well stocked plant stall ) are under a warm and dry roof!! Only 50p admission. 10.a.m – 3.30.p.m. Please arrive earlier if it fits in better with your days plans. Most stalls are open by 9.a.m. A Minutes silence will be observed at 11.a.m.

A Vintage Sunday!

A Vintage Fair organised by Broadway Fairs will be held in the Village Hall on Sunday ( please note this is a one day Fair not a weekend Fair as was initially planned ) commencing at 10.a.m. There will be lots of stalls with a great range of items from a bygone era – Jewellery, Books, Clothing, Household, Toys and Memorabilia. Light refreshments will be available until 3.p.m.

The next Village Hall Coffee morning will be held on Saturday 16th November.

Bacon sandwiches are back!!!!!

The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with a film show courtesy of Gargrave and Malhamdale community library. Doors open at 7.p.m for a 7.30.p.m start. Admission is £5.00 on the door please bring along your own refreshments. The Runaways is a film set in and around Whitby.

A Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee Coffee morning will be held on Saturday from 10.a.m. Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes and a great selection of homemade cakes will be available. A fun raffle and book stall will also aid funds.  There will be a Christmas gift box stall , with decorated boxes filled with gifts for all the family.

Broadway Fairs will be hosting their monthly Flea Market and Allsorts Fair on Sunday from 10.a.m. Lots of stalls in attendance. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m.

Dancing through to Vintage Bargains!

The weekend ahead at the Village Hall begins with a Picnic supper dance on Friday evening with live music for ballroom and sequence dance from the talented Organist, Elizabeth Harrison.

Elizabeth plays all over the country and has provided the music for some of the biggest ballroom dance competitions in the North West.

The dance commences at 7.30.p.m and admission is 5.00 on the door, please bring along your own Picnic supper.

The Village Hall Management Committee will be holding one of their Flea Market, Vintage and Collectable Fairs on Sunday. The hall is full to capacity with a great selection of stalls, including some one off stalls ( down sizing due to house moves ) so there will be Collectables ( some Antiques ), Vintage, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Books and much more. There will be bargain prices too! The plant stall will be in attendance ( outside if sunny, inside if wet ). Light refreshments served until 3.p.m. Only 50p admission. Open 10.a.m until 4.p.m. Please arrive sooner if you wish and its more convenient for the rest of the days plans as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m.

Tribute act….

Sorry no Coffee morning this Saturday ( the homemade cakes and toasted teacakes will be back next weekend, served from 10.a.m – 1.p.m on Saturday 14th in the Café area, Jumble sale in the main Hall and side rooms ).

Andy Wiseman will be at the Village Hall on Saturday night as Neil Diamond, performing some of his greatest hits. Tickets are priced at 6.00 each and are available from the Dalesman Café and Gillians Hairdressers in the Village or on the door on the night. Please bring along your own refreshments, Café style seating and plenty of room for dancing. A great nights entertainment from this popular act. Doors open at 7.p.m.

The annual Jumble sale is fast approaching and there are a large number of items already stored and ready for sale. Donations are arriving daily and can be accepted up until 5.p.m on the 13th September. Gifts for the Tombola stall also gratefully received . The event opens at 10.a.m on Saturday 14th September and closes at 1.p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Only 20p admission.

If you are unable to attend on the 14th, a second opportunity is available to purchase the Jumble on the 15th September when one of the side rooms will be assigned for unsold items at the monthly Flea Market, Collectables and Crafts Fair . There will of course be many other stalls selling Vintage, Collectables and Crafts in the main hall.

Bank Holiday Weekend….

The Bank Holiday weekend kicks off with a Picnic Supper dance in aid of Manorlands. The event is organised by Brian and Kath Wellock and their friends ( further details 01729 830217 ). Scottish musicians ” Bon Accord” will be providing the accordian music for Ballroom and Sequence dancing. Admission is 5.00 on the door, please bring along your own picnic supper. The event commences at 7.30.p.m.

Come along on both Sunday and Monday and pick up a bargain! Sheila of Broadway Fairs will be holding her Flea Market and Allsorts Fair on Sunday from 10.a.m , lots of stalls with a good variety of items to purchase. The Village Hall Management team will be holding a Flea Market, Vintage, Collectables and Crafts Fair on Monday, some stalls will be at the Hall on both days but the majority for just the one so there will be a good change over of items on the Monday, well worth a visit each day.

We are also delighted to welcome along a new plant stall, which will be at everyone of the Flea Markets in the future.

Only 50p admission on both days, with light refreshments available from 10.a.m until 3.p.m each day.

Coffee morning….

The Management committee will be holding a Coffee morning on Saturday from 10.a.m. Please come along and enjoy bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes and loads of homemade cakes. A fun raffle, book stall and bric a brac stall will also aid funds. Buy slices of cake to take home too.

The annual Craven Fushsia and Geranium show will be held on Sunday. Prize winning entries can be viewed from Noon. There will also be plants for sale and light refreshments available throughout the afternoon. Further details please contact 01756 752175.

Whats on next???

Firstly a big thank you to an incredibly talented trio who performed last Sunday at the Village Hall. Arthur Geldard sang songs made famous by the likes of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Co, and did he sing well – what a fantastic voice. He was backed by two equally talented musicians in the form of John Fuller and Trish Ferrarin. They all really enjoyed performing at the Village Hall and like everyone else enjoyed the delicious homemade afternoon tea which was served in the interval.

This weekend we have a Coffee morning on Saturday commencing at 10.a.m. Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes ( well the weather may cool down by then ) and homemade cakes are on the menu. A fun raffle and book stall will also aid funds.

A Coffee morning will be held on Saturday morning from 9.30.a.m. Bacon sandwiches, hot buttered teacakes and homemade cakes will be served until Noon. We will be pleased to welcome past pupils and their friends from the Chance2Dance school. Jaki will be leaving the area soon and this will be her last teaching lesson at Gargrave Village Hall after a number of years. Please come along if you would like to pass on best wishes, there will be tiny breaks between the half hour classes, or call in before the first class commences at 9.a.m. or when there will be a swift lunchtime break at 1.p.m.

Tickets can be reserved for Sundays musical afternoon and tea via any of the helpers at the Coffee morning.

Homemade afternoon tea and live music with songs from The Great American songbook – what could be better???

Come along to the Village Hall on Sunday afternoon and enjoy listening to Arthur Geldard singing songs made famous by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. Joining Arthur on stage will be Trish Ferrarin and John Fuller. The talented musicians are all a big part of the Clitheroe and Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues scene, an area renowned for the development and growth of music in the North West.

There will be Café style seating in the Hall, with doors opening at 1.30.p.m for a 2.p.m start. Afternoon tea will be served in the interval and a raffle will be held in aid of Village Hall funds.

 

And all that Jazz ( and swing )….

There will be the opportunity on Sunday to purchase tickets directly from the hall for the upcoming performance from The Ribble Valley Jazz big band. The twenty two band members are experienced musicians who have helped to make Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley a driving force in the development and growth of Jazz music. The group under the direction of Paul. J. Rigby will be playing at the hall on Friday 21st June, doors open 7.p.m. Tickets are priced at 10.00 each and will be available on Sunday from 7.30.a.m until 4.p.m at the Gargrave Village Hall Flea Market, Vintage and Collectables Fair. Not giving too much away, a couple of numbers on the night will be the iconic 1942 hit from Glenn Miller ” A string of pearls” and the more recent song ” How sweet it is”.

There will be a licensed bar and hot beef sandwiches for sale in the interval.
