Lots happening at the Hall this weekend….

The Cinema club will be showing the film Brian and Charles in the Village Hall on Friday evening, The film is a humorous story about loneliness, friendship , family and finding love. The customary cafe style seating will be in place, so please bring along your own refreshments. The doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door with accompanied under sixteens free.

Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee jointly with Gargrave Library Committee will be holding a Coffee morning on Saturday in the Village Hall. There will be bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and a great selection of homemade cakes available. A raffle will aid Library funds and a Book and Bric a Brac stall will boost Hall funds. The Library 100 club draw will also take place.

Broadway Fairs will be hosting the Flea Market and Craft Fair on Sunday in the Village Hall. There will be lots of stalls selling affordable and unique items and charity stalls will also be there supporting Manorlands Hospice and The Cats Protection league. It was good to welcome back the local Plant stall last month and hopefully this will be a fixture throughout the year at all the Flea Market and Craft Fairs which from March will generally be held at fortnightly intervals. Its Panto time…

Jack and the Beanstalk will be performed at the Village Hall this weekend, Thursday night saw the first showing of the old favourite. Further performances take place on Friday night at 7.15.p.m and Saturday at 1.p.m and 5.p.m.

Tickets are £8 and £5 from the Dalesman Cafe and the Library or on the door at £9 and £6.

Picnic Supper Dance…

The talented Organist Elizabeth Harrison will be providing the live music for the Picnic Supper Dance on Friday 10th February. Elizabeth is one of the team of Organists at Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Please bring along your own Picnic Supper, tea and coffee will be provided in the interval. A raffle will aid Village Hall funds. Admission is £6.00 per person on the door. The event commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m.

A quiet weekend….

There are no public events at the Village Hall this weekend.

The Pantomime cast will be rehearsing and using the Hall all day on Sunday as they prepare for their shows on the 16-18 Feb.

The performance this year is Jack and the Beanstalk. Tickets can be purchased from the Dalesman Cafe and the Village Library, they are priced at £8 and £5. Tickets may also be purchased on the door when you attend a performance, these will be priced at £9 and £6.

Performances are Thursday 16th and Friday 17th at 7.15.p.m and Saturday 18th at 1.p.m and 5.p.m.

Broadway Fairs – first of the year.

Sheila from Broadway Fairs will be hosting her first Flea Market and Craft Fair of the year on Sunday. There will be a good selection of stalls selling both affordable and unique items. Vintage, Collectable, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Pictures, Jigsaws , Books and Crafts will all be for sale from 10.a.m onwards ( please pop in a bit sooner if it fits in better with your days plans, most stalls are set up by 9.a.m ). Light refreshments are available until 3.p.m. Event closes at 3.30.p.m. Admission 50p. To book a stall call 01757 229805.

Film and Coffee weekend…..

On the 20th January Gargrave Cinema club will welcome in the New Year with the widely acclaimed comedy, Phantom of the Open. The film tells the true story of Maurice Flitcroft, a Crane Operator and dreamer from Barrow in Furness who despite never having played a game of golf he manages to bluff his way into the 1976 British Open. Maurice is golfs equivalent to the Eddie the Eagle of the ski-ing world! The film stars Mark Rylance and Sally Hawkins.

The customary Cafe style seating will be in place so please bring along your own refreshments. The Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door with accompanied under sixteens free. All proceeds from the film nights go towards the running costs of the Community Library which is based in the Village Hall Foyer.

There will be a Coffee morning in the Hall on Saturday morning, organised jointly between Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library. Proceeds from the Bric a Brac and book stall will go towards Village Hall funds and the raffle will raise funds for the Library. The Library 100 club draw will also take place.

Dance into the New Year…..

The monthly Picnic supper dances return on Friday 13th January when Denis Westmorland will be providing the live music. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be served in the interval. Admission is £6.00 per person on the door. A raffle will aid Hall funds. The music commences at 7.30.p.m through to 11.p.m.

The week ahead…..

The Annual General meeting of Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee will take place in Committee Room One at the Village Hall on Wednesday 14th December at 7.30.p.m.

On Friday 16th December Gargrave Cinema club will be screening Downton Abbey A New Era. The film reunites the cast as they go on a grand journey to France. The customary Cafe style seating will be in place so please bring along your own refreshments. The Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door.

The final Coffee morning of the year will be held at the Village Hall on Saturday and will be run jointly by members of Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library. There will be bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade cakes on the menu. A raffle will aid Library funds and the proceeds from a Book and Bric a Brac stall will go towards Village Hall funds. The Library committee will also be holding their bumper 100 club draw.

Dancing and Collectables..

A Picnic supper dance will be held on Friday evening (9th December) at the Village Hall with live music from the Keyboard Wizard – Alan Cookson! Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be served in the interval. A raffle will aid Hall funds. Music for dancing commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Admission £6.00 on the door.

The last Collectables, Vintage and Craft Fair of the year will be held in the Village Hall on Sunday. The event is run by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee. There will be a good variety of stalls selling Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac, Books, Jewellery, Jigsaws and Crafts. The Village Hall will also have their own stalls selling anything from a nearly new ladies’ bike with shopping basket and a cage for a parrot! Lots of books at bargain prices too. A great opportunity to buy that last minute gift without the hustle and bustle of the high street. A tombola will be raising funds for the cats protection league. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. Just 50p admission. Open 9.30.a.m until 3.30.p.m. Please come along earlier if it fits in better with your days plans as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m. The Village Hall Management Fairs will not be back until Sunday 12th March. First Book Fair of the year is on the 4th March. Broadway Flea Markets return on Sunday 29th January.
