Book Worm Heaven!

Book sellers from all over the North-West will be at the Village Hall on Saturday (3rd December) for the last Book Fair of the year. There will be literally hundreds of books to choose from covering every subject from fact to fiction. General paperbacks and hardbacks at bargain prices through to specialised, collectable and rare editions. Simply something for everyone, including children’s books which many of us will remember from our childhood. A great opportunity to buy a special gift for someone or just treat yourself. The event opens at 10.a.m and closes at 3.30.p.m. Admission is 50p and light refreshments are available until 3.p.m.

Don`t forget next week’s Vintage, Collectable and Craft Fair on Sunday 11th December. This will be the last Fair of the year which is run by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee, and they will not resume again until March 12th 2023. Sheila of Broadway Fairs will resume her Flea Markets on Sunday January 29th 2023. Cinema club and Broadway Fairs……

Gargrave Cinema club will be showing the film Ali and Ava on Friday night (25th November) in the Village Hall. The film tells the story of two people on a Bradford estate who develop a deep connection despite the lingering legacy of their past relationships and cultural differences. The film is written and produced by Otley born Clio Bernard, it stars Adeel Aktar,Claire Rushbrook,Macy Shackleton and Shaun Thomas. The customary Cafe style seating will be in place so please bring your own refreshments. The Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film starting at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door.

Almost the last opportunity on Sunday to buy that unique gift for Christmas without the hustle and bustle of the high street or shopping centre. Sheila of Broadway Fairs will be hosting a Flea Market and Craft Fair, as the name indicates there will be something for everyone, Collectables, Vintage, Books, Jigsaws, Gifts, Decorations, Jewellery and handmade crafts. Opening hours are 10.a.m until 3.30.p.m but please pop in sooner if it fits in better with your days plans as most stalls are set up by 9.a.m. Light refreshments available from 10.a.m until 3.p.m. Admission is just 50p.

Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee will be hosting the last Collectable and Craft Fair of the year on December 11th. A Crafty Christmas weekend….

Come along to the Village Hall this weekend (19th and 20th November) when there will be a Christmas Crafts and Gift Fair hosted by Sheila from Broadway Fairs. There will be a huge array of talent on display with a capacity number of stalls on both Saturday and Sunday selling Crafts and Gifts for Christmas. An easy and simple way to complete your Christmas shopping with both affordable and unique items for sale. Some stall holders will be in attendance on both days, some just on Saturday and some just on Sunday, so well worth a visit on both days.

Admission is just 50p and light refreshments are available until 3.p.m each day. Opening times are 10.a.m until 3.30.p.m.

Monthly supper dance & Collectables Fair

The long-awaited return of the popular Organist Elizabeth Harrison is here at last. Elizabeth plays for dance competitions at Blackpool Tower Ballroom and on Friday evening 11th November she will be providing the live music for the Picnic supper dance at Gargrave Village Hall. The event commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided in the interval. A raffle will aid Village Hall funds. Admission is £6.00 per person on the door.

Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee will be hosting a Vintage, Collectable and Craft Fair on Sunday. There will be one or two new faces selling a great variety of items, both unique and affordable. There will even be the opportunity to purchase some remote-control boats. These items have been the hobby of a gentleman who has now decided to part company with them, a great idea for an unusual Christmas gift.

The Village Hall will also have its own sales table which includes the ever-popular 50p rummage box. The event opens at 9.30.a.m and closes at 3.30.p.m. Lights refreshments available until 3.p.m.

A two-minute silence will be held at 11.a.m to remember those who have lost their lives through conflict.

There will be no public events taking place at the Hall this weekend due to a private booking hiring the Hall from the 4th of November through to the 6th of November.

Next weekend there will be a Picnic supper dance on the Friday with live organ music from the talented musician Elizabeth Harrison.

The Management Committee will be hosting their last but one Collectable and Craft Fair before Christmas on the Sunday. There will be a great variety of stalls with some new faces, look out for the remote-controlled boats! The popular 50p rummage boxes are back too. Light refreshments available. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11.a.m.

Bacon butties on Saturday, bargains on Sunday!!

A Coffee morning jointly organised by Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library will take place on Saturday morning in the Village Hall. There will be tasty bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and homemade cakes and buns on the menu. A Book stall will aid Hall funds and a Raffle will boost the Library Coffers. The 100 club Library draw will also take place.

Fast forward to Sunday and Sheila from Broadway Fairs will be hosting a Flea Market and Craft Fair from 10.a.m until 3.30.p.m. There will be a good variety of stalls selling Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Books, Gifts, Jigsaws and Crafts. Admission is just 50p. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m.

 

Cinema club film night….

The long-awaited film` The Railway Children Return` will be shown at Gargrave Village Hall on Friday evening. Doors open at 7.p.m for the film commencing at 7.30.p.m. The story is set on and around the Keighley and Worth Valley railway and tells the story of a group of children who are evacuated to Oakworth during the Second World War. The main characters are played by Jenny Agutter, Sheridan Smith, Tom Courtenay and John Bradley. The customary cafe style seating will be in place so please bring along your own refreshments. Tickets are £5.00 on the door.

Popular local band Silhouette will be hosting a social dance on Saturday evening. The Crown ball will commence at 7.30.p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 07712 653276 or they can be purchased on the door on the night by either cash or card. Tickets are priced at £6.00. Please bring along your own refreshments. Tea and Coffee will be available during the interval.

The monthly Picnic supper dance will be held on Friday evening in the Village Hall. Live music will be provided by Cumbrian Accordion player Denis Westmorland. Music commences at 7.30.p.m until 11.p.m. Please bring along your own Picnic supper. Tea and Coffee will be provided in the interval. Admission is £6.00 on the door. A raffle will aid Hall funds.

The Hall will be packed with a great variety of stalls selling Collectables, Vintage, Bric a Brac, Jewellery, Books, Jigsaws, Gifts and Crafts. Lots of unique yet very affordable items. Light refreshments available until 3.p.m. The event opens at 10.a.m until 3.30.p.m. but please call in earlier if it fits in better with your day’s other plans. Most stalls are set up for 9.a.m.

A social weekend ahead…..

Come along to the Coffee morning on Saturday when bacon sandwiches, toasted teacakes and lots of homemade cakes will be on the menu. The event will be hosted jointly between Gargrave Village Hall Management Committee and Gargrave Library. A raffle will aid Library funds and proceeds from a book stall will go towards Hall funds. If you are curious about how the changes to local government may affect the area or you personally then representatives from Craven District Council will be in attendance to discuss any concerns or issues, this will be on an informal basis where you can have a personal chat whilst enjoying a cuppa!

It`s almost here-The Annual grand jumble sale – Saturday.

The popular annual event is on Saturday 1st October. Doors open at 10.a.m and the sale finishes at 1.p.m. Free admission.Vast quantities of Jumble have been arriving throughout the last few months and culminate in the Grand Jumble event of the year!

There is literally everything bar the kitchen sink , though if you need taps for your sink we do have those! Small furniture, pictures, garden items, sports items, craft items, Christmas decorations, Toys, Books, Jewellery, Electrical goods, Lamps, Homeware, Bedding, Clothing and Bric a Brac – All at bargain prices.

A well stocked tombola will also aid Hall funds.
