On Friday 23rd May Gargrave Cinema club will be showing their last film of the season with a screening of Portraits of Dangerous Women. This decidedly offbeat and deceptively charming British comedy follows the intertwining lives of three women who meet through a bizarre road accident in the English countryside. Initially strangers, they decide to handle the aftermath without involving the police, leading to the development of unusual alliances and friendships as their pasts unravel. The film features performances by Tara Fitzgerald, Jeany Spark and Yasmen Monet Prince. The customary Cafe style seating will be in place, so please bring your own refreshments. Gargrave Village Hall doors open at 7.p.m with the film commencing at 7.30.p.m. Tickets are £5.00 on the door, cash only please. Accompanied under sixteens are free. Sorry but only guide dogs can be allowed to this event. All proceeds from the film nights go towards the running costs of the Community Library. The film season will re-commence again on the 19th September.
Gargrave Heritage group will be holding a book launch on Saturday from 10.a.m until 2.p.m. in the Village Hall.Refreshments available all day. The new book is entitled Past times and new beginnings and charts the history of the Village from 1925 to 1955. It is a sequel to their book From Mills to marching and back again.
