Gargrave Show committee will be holding their annual Supper dance on Friday evening in the Hall. Further details and ticket sales please contact Lisa on 01756 749320.
The first Book Fair of the New Year will be held on Saturday. The main Hall and side rooms will be bursting at the rafters with books of all descriptions, ranging from general hardbacks and paperbacks through to rare and antiquarian volumes. The event opens at 10.a.m and closes at 4.p.m. Light refreshments are available until 3.p.m. A very small number of stallholders accept card payments but most sales are cash only. There is a cash machine in the Village at the Co-op store but please bring plenty with you! Admission is just 50p or by donation.
The next Book Fair will be on Saturday 3rd June.
There will as always be a great variety of books for sale on railways and transport, with this in mind it is a relevant time to let you know about meetings which are held in the Annexe at the Village Hall on the first and third Monday of each month. A group of like minded and enthusiastic people meet and enjoy the camaraderie of their shared love of transport, primarily trains, both model or full sized. Train layouts are set up and occasionally slides and films are shown or a club member may give a talk. Membership is on a twice yearly payment basis and everyone is made most welcome at this very friendly group. The meeting begins at 7.p.m until 10.p.m. Further details please call Alec on 07341345312. The next meeting is on Monday 4th March.
Alec one of the lead members hopes to attend one of the Collectable Fairs in the Spring when he will have a working train layout set up in one of the side rooms at the Hall so visitors can share the enjoyment of his hobby and learn a bit more about the group meetings.
